12 Step Programs: Learning How to Stay Sober The very organized structure of The Liberty Ranch is designed to facility insight into one's own shortcomings. The uderpinnings of the methods used are frequently not understood by the residents, or their family in the beginning. However, our methods have been proven time and again to have a more permanent effect on the alcoholic or drug addict's sobriety than the more superficial tactics used in less structured, and more expensive drug rehab programs.
We teach our resdients persontal integrity, self-respect, accountability, honesty, self sufficiency and how to apply the personal tools needed to sustain life long sobriety. Old behavior is recognized and alternative courses of action are outlined using the 12-steps as our guide and personal experience. Residents learn how to be completely honest with themselves and others.
The 30-Day Program- after admission, clients are introduced to each other and receive an orientation about the operation of the facility. Each client is given their own 12 step outline and guideline to working the 12-steps. Deadlines are provided and strictly adhered to as part of the overall program. Sponsorship is mandatory for each resident and they are encouraged to get a 12-step sponsor immediately.

The 60-Day Program- guides clients through all 12 steps by providing reading and writing assignments with strict deadlines attached. Accountability goes a long way in an addict’s life. Lack of accountability perpetuated the addiction. If we are to help our clients truly begin again and live a healthy, happy sober life, it must begin with accountability and responsibility. If residents are taught to take responsibility for their lives, then they are taking responsibility for their recovery.
Clients learn how to work a 12 step program of recovery in the facility with other residents. This extended period of time (60-days), allows an individual more time to acclimate to recovery and identify relapse triggers in their behavior and learn through each 12 step how to change this behavior to remain clean and sober. The 90-Day Program- the 12 Step 90-Day Program offered by The Liberty Ranch in Kentucky offers men and women an introduction into maintaining a sober life. This program is most effective for newly sober people because it further extends a resident’s experience at working a 12 step program. Residents will work all 12 steps of the recovery program, and continue residing in The Liberty Ranch while learning about themselves and what they need to change to remain clean and sober for the rest of their lives. The programs outlined above are designed to help an individual learn as much as they can about themselves and what it takes to remain clean and sober. Residents are able to work their program of recovery and learn how to apply it in their daily lives. The more time an individual has to do that with the support of other recovering addicts, the more likely they are to remain clean and sober upon discharges members are encouraged to participate and begin practicing their own program of recovery by attending 12 step meetings designed for them.
Families and friends have suffered from the effects of their loved one’s chemical dependency and need support as well. The journey of recovery is not easy.
